ASSISTANT CHILD DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1701, General Education and Training Series. BASIC REQUIREMENT:
A Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) which education must have been in child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled. NOTE:

Experience:
Courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes group child care managing an entire cycle of operation of an early childhood program, including budgeting; facility management; supply management; program development; implementation; selection, training, and supervision of personnel; and curriculum oversight or work that demonstrated the ability to:
Manage operation of a child care center; select, train, and supervise employees, family child care providers, or other care-giving adults; develop and implement child development programs, including family day care programs, part-day preschool programs, and before/after school programs; Work to solve complex problems related to the care and education of children. OR EDUCATION:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE:

Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE:
You must submit copies of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in- grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Professional knowledge of goals, principles, methods, and techniques of early childhood development. 2. Skill in developing curricula which covers physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. Skill in educating, counseling, and advising day care providers and parents through assessment of training needs. 3. Knowledge of guidelines, regulations, manuals, procedures, policies, etc. in the administration and management of a child development center. Knowledge of personnel management principles, practices, and procedures. 4. Knowledge of basic budget preparation as it applies to preparing operating and capital expenditure requirements. Knowledge of USDA food program requirements. 5. Skill in handling emergence type situations common in dealing with small children in a child development center. Skill in determining the qualifications and suitability of family day care providers. 6. Ability to prepare and implement policies regarding a comprehensive child development program. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID
Experience:
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
